CRAFT-MI

Craft-MI aims to preserve and promote the Italian manufacturing heritage in the luxury fashion sector. The initiative provides training and opportunities for emerging artisans to ensure a prosperous future for the Italian fashion industry. Its objectives include recruiting and training new talents, supporting businesses through strategic partnerships, and promoting Made in Italy in the global market.

For the success of Craft-MI and the preservation of the Italian manufacturing heritage in fashion, it is essential to develop MITA’s training programs, promote Italian craftsmanship through marketing campaigns, and support businesses with tax incentives and favorable financing. Additionally, it is crucial to foster collaboration among companies, academic institutions, and government organizations to create a sustainable ecosystem. A collective effort is necessary to maintain Italy's leadership in fashion and preserve its cultural and artisanal heritage for the future.

THE PROGRAM

CRAFT-MI AND MITA

Two training programs starting in October 2024 aim to train specialized technical professionals for the fashion and luxury sector through a hands-on “learning by doing” approach. Approximately 1800 hours, divided between theoretical but mainly practical training, will take place at the Polo Universitario di Prato and in the MITA laboratory set up within Beste’s company premises. The teaching will be entrusted to highly qualified instructors, coming both from HModa and other leading entities in the sector. At the end of the course, an internship will facilitate the integration of students into the participating companies. Each training program will involve 25 students, and upon completion, there will be an 800-hour internship to ease the students' integration into the participating companies. The qualification awarded is a 5th level EQF higher technical diploma, valid throughout the EU and recognized in other countries.

From the synergy between education and business comes the CRAFT-MI project, a collaboration between Mita, Polo Universitario di Prato, Accademia HModa, and Beste, which aims to train the new generation of pattern makers and prototypists.
